WASHINGTON D.C. – Apparently the AFL-CIO believes its members should display their union pride at all times, including date night.

The union recently published a list of acceptable “union date night” clothing options on its website, “so you never have to choose between romance and your union brothers and sisters again,” reports the Washington Examiner.

“[F]or those who feel like taking a break and going out on the town, go for it! And make it a union night! … [G]o catch a flick with your special someone (you know the movie will be union made), we’ve got a few products to keep the night rolling smoothly,” reads the list.
In terms of union fashion, Excelled Sheepskin & Leather Coat Corp., Kenneth Gordon, Joseph Abboud, Ben Davis, Bosca Accessories, Jack Victor Ltd., Jones New York, Schott N.Y.C. and Union Jean Company are all acceptable choices, according to the AFL-CIO. Never mind the price tag.
The list for perfume and cologne is more selective, with only Hugo Boss, Pierre Cardin, Avon and Old Spice making the cut.
So for deserts, “anything other than Brayers Ice Cream, Good Humor, President’s Choice Ice Cream, Hershey’s, See’s Candies and Russell Stover will leave the bitter taste of Bain Capital and the one percent in your mouth,” quips the Examiner.
What do you want to bet that all of the companies on the “union acceptable” list are all big contributors to the Democratic Party or “progressive” social causes?
So the war never really ends, even on the weekends, when people are supposed to be able to put their burdens aside and forget about work for a while. For the union, it comes down to supporting your allies and denying business to your political rivals, even on date night.
