ANDERSON, Ind. – Three Indiana middle school students have been suspended and threatened with expulsion because a topless photo of their female teacher appeared on a school-issued iPad they were using to play a game.
You read that correctly. The teacher’s nude photo popped up when one of the kids pushed a button on the device, and somehow administrators found that to be a punishable offense, according to a published report from KSDK.com.

“It’s not our fault that she had the photo on there,” said Joshua Troutt, 13, one of the students who was suspended. “We couldn’t do anything not to look at it, if it just popped up when he (a classmate) pressed the button. It was her fault that she had the photo on there because her iPhone synched to it. She had to have pressed something to make all of her photos sync onto there.”
Troutt’s mother called the punishment ridiculous and suggested the teacher should be held responsible for the photo becoming available to students.
“In all reality, you’d think she’d be fired because that’s a nude picture in the school that the students seen,” said Nicole Troutt.
School officials said the district’s technology policy was followed and the photo appeared by accident, according to the news report. But the students were still suspended.
Something’s definitely wrong with this story. We hope parents in the district ask a lot of questions, get all the answers and demand fair treatment for the students involved.

If this was simply a tech snafu, there’s no way the kids should be in any trouble at all. Unless there is much more to this story, we would guess that the school district could be exposing itself to a huge and unnecessary lawsuit.
