PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Only in America can an education professional receive a six-figure salary upon termination for getting caught masturbating in an online video.

admin vulgar 2That’s what is happening in the Palos Verdes Unified School District, where former chief academic officer Martin Griffin was forced to resign after parents discovered a video online that appears to show Griffin pleasuring himself, EasyReaderNews.com reports.

School officials agreed to give Griffin, who was brought into the district to implement the national Common Core standards, his full $135,000 salary until March or until he finds other employment, according to the news site.

Parents, of course, aren’t happy with the deal.

“I’m frustrated in a sense that the district is paying him through March and he hadn’t really worked since September,” parent Linda Reid told the news site. “That’s a whole teacher salary being flushed down the toilet and just handed to somebody.”

In actuality, it’s probably closer to two teacher salaries.

Other aspects of the situation make it even more egregious.

“Griffin is also a bishop in the American Catholic Church, a small independent denomination founded in 1999 that has similar doctrine to the Roman Catholic Church but allows clergy to marry or have same-sex unions,” EasyReaderNews.com reports.

What’s more, Griffin’s responsibilities with the school district included “administering a program that would give students greater access to the internet and the type of material he’s alleged to have posted,” according to the news site.

Reid was among parents who looked into Griffins’ background after his abrasive management rubbed many parents and school employees the wrong way. They submitted a public information request for his resume and found “he had come from the Sweetwater Union High School District near San Diego, where at least five school officials were indicted for accepting kickbacks,” according to EasyReaderNews.com.

Reid said parents discovered several red flags that should have cause concern by those who hired him.

“He has so many jobs and so many places where teachers gave him a vote of no confidence,” Reid told the news site. “He seemed to job hop and even changed his name at one point. It was the kind of stuff that made you wonder why we hired this guy.”
