MUSKEGON, Mich. – It sounds like a bad version of a disturbing nursery rhyme: One teacher went on probation, one teacher went to court, and one teacher went to the police station.

But this is what happened to three educators – from three different schools – who are facing sexually related charges.

We can only hope that if all are found guilty, these cases all have the same ending: Three former teachers who never set foot in another classroom.

One teacher sentenced

In Virginia Beach on Tuesday, former theater teacher Guy Wolf pleaded guilty to one count of Felony Custodial Indecent Liberties with a Child. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and was told to have no contact with the girl, reports WVEC.

Police determined that the 53-year-old Wolf had a consensual, sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student between May and June of 2013.

“He was very into the students. He actually would help the students,” said Davina Rumble, a mother of a student in the school.

Wolf began working at the school in 2004. He resigned last September when the school contacted the police department and Child Protective Services.

In Illinois, a former physical education teacher at Waukegan High School had his first day of trial on Tuesday.

Brandon Brown, 31, is being charged with criminal sexual assault for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student, reports The Daily Herald.

Brown admitted to the sexual relationship after the school district notified police in 2012.

The former teacher’s defense is that the female student had turned 18 before the sexual contact took place.

“The evidence is going to prove through inconsistent statements and phone records that their meeting took place after (the victim’s) birthday,” defense attorney Alan Jones told the Daily Herald.

Even if that proves to be so, Brown violated that public trust by getting involved with a student. That behavior simply cannot be tolerated.

School officials apparently agree. Brown, who worked for the district for eight years, was no longer employed with the district as of October 2013.

The defense rejected a plea agreement before going to a bench trial, the Herald reports.

One teacher arrested

In Vernon Parish, Louisiana, a substitute teacher made a trip down to the police station after she was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, KPLCtv reports.

Cindy Martinez, a substitute teacher at the local high school, is facing charges of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student.

Martinez was freed after posting bond; a court date has not been reported yet.
