KATY, Texas – Staff at Katy ISD was surprised by an unexpected visitor when they found an alligator on campus Wednesday morning.

Katy ISD employees found the gator slowly making its way to the Beck Junior High School building around 7:20 Wednesday morning, according to Local 2 News. Staff called sheriffs deputies to the school to handle the problem.

“They tried using a rope to capture the alligator, but the gator managed to break the rope twice. Finally a deputy threw a towel over the gator and then jumped on top of it. He managed to tape its mouth shut and carry it to the car,” the news site reports.

The gator put up a good three-hour fight until it was unwillingly hauled off in the patrol car around 10:30 am, according to ABC 13 News.

School has not started yet for the district, so there were not many students at school when the gator was found.
