WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – A 19-year-old man hanged himself on an elementary school playground this morning, 13wmaz.com reports.
The man, who was not identified, was discovered at about 10 a.m., while Lake Joy Primary school was in session.
“Schools spokeswoman Beth McLaughlin said a teacher noticed the man while children were out at recess,” the news station reports.
“McLaughlin did know whether any of the children saw the body. She was uncertain as to whether one or multiple classes were being led to the playground. A teacher turned the students around and directed them immediately inside upon the body’s discovery,” Macon.com reports.
Principal April Strevig sent an “automated message” to parents notifying them an adult visited the playground during the weekend and “suffered a tragic death.”
The news site reports activities are continuing at the school under a “limited transition plan.”
