On Monday SB 290 was introduced in the Nevada Senate.  The primary sponsors of this bill are State Senator Scott Hammond (R-Las Vegas), State Senator Don Gustavson (R-Sparks), Assemblywoman Shelly Shelton (R-Las Vegas), Assemblywoman Jill Dickman (R-Sparks), Assemblywoman Michele Fiore (R-Las Vegas), and Assemblywoman Victoria Dooling (R-Henderson).

This bill would void the Common Core State Standards and replace them with Massachusetts English Language Arts Curriculum Framework and the Massachusetts Math Curriculum Framework that existed before Massachusetts adopted the Common Core.  The bill specifies if the Council to Establish Academic Standards for Public Schools finds parts of those standards not suitable for Nevada they can revise those standards or establish other, equally rigorous, standards for the state.
