ROMNEY, W.Va. – An unnamed teacher is in hot water after he or she was goaded into showing “Fifty Shades of Gray” to a high school class apparently without knowing the content of the film.

The teacher at Hampshire High School was “ignorant” of the movie’s storyline and showed it to the class to reward them for their “good work,” according to the Charleston Daily Mail.

“Fortunately, an assistant principal walked by and saw what they were doing,” says school principal Jeff Woofter. “They got there 10 minutes after it started and shut it down.”

Woofter insists school policy bars any movies from being shown in the classroom.

“I will say it was an extreme lack of judgment from an otherwise very capable teacher,” according to Woofter. “The teacher didn’t do a background check on the movie or even ask about it.”

Not only did the principal refuse to identify the teacher, but he also wouldn’t say what the punishment would be, if any.

The R-rated film is notable for its depictions of “graphic acts of sexual violence.”

Critics say it demeans women and promotes violent relationships.
