LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. – During the chaos of a running play, Angel Salazar never saw it coming.
Salazar’s football team from La Canada Unified School District was taking on Salesian High School’s team when a Salesian player appeared to rub his hand under Salazar’s mask. The player immediately left the field in pain.

“Our player came to the sidelines, and he was covered in Icy-Hot. Covered in his face,” La Canada Principal Ian McFeat tells CBS 2.
Video, taken by the school district, was released to the media:
“That’s the kind of substance that if it really got in your eyes, it can do some damage”, McFeat says.
Salesian’s principal allegedly called La Canada’s principal to apologize for the incident.
“This morning, their principal called my principal and said as more information came to light in the media, that he looked at the incident from a different perspective,” La Canada Athletic Director Kristina Kalb tells the Pasadena Star News.

“At this point, I’m very delighted to hear they are taking it seriously because this is all about student safety. We are appreciative for the fact that Salesian’s principal reached out and apologized for what transpired that evening.”
The principal, Alex Chacon, confirmed he did call to apologize but would not say whether he admitted guilt on his player’s behalf.
After “a six-day investigation and watching the game film multiple times,” Chacon elected not to take disciplinary action against the team over the incident.
