SOUTHGATE, Mich. – Parents are steaming over an R-rated video about puberty students viewed on a teachers phone at Anderson High School last month.

School officials confirm students viewed a clip from the flick “Puberty: The Movie” titled “Puberty Pals” that features several characters like Paulie the Penis, an elderly vagina woman, Burt the butt, and others.

The female teacher involved in the incident was not identified by the school district, but superintendent Leslie Hainrihar told parents she was disciplined for the video. It remains unclear whether the teacher showed the video to students or the students found the video on her phone without her knowledge.

“The district has investigated an allegation that students were allowed access to a teacher’s private phone,” Hainrihar told The News-Herald. “While in possession of the phone, the students watched an inappropriate video. We have confirmed that did in fact occur.”

At least one unidentified parent was irate about the incident at the Southgate Community Schools Board of Education meeting March 15.

“You failed my son,” the man screamed at board members.

The superintendent told board members she’s reviewing the district’s policy about personal communication devices with employees, but several complained about how the incident was handled, particularly that they were not immediately informed about the video.

Hainrihar had discussed the situation with the district’s attorneys who advised her that the video did not meet the standards to be considered pornographic.

The March 15 board meeting got heated as board members spoke in loud voices and with occasional profanity while discussing the incident. Due to an equipment malfunction, the board meeting was not video recorded as they routinely are.

About five minutes worth of the discussion was placed on YouTube by a concerned parent April 5. The video was viewed by The News-Herald at that time, but has since been made private.

The Puberty Pals episode aims to answer the question: “What the heck is happening to my genitals?!”

A video of the goofy cartoon was posted to YouTube by Jim Smith in 2013.

“Pu-ber-ty,” the cowboy hat wearing Paulie the Penis says in the video. “What does it all mean? Why do we go through puberty?

“And what the heck is happening to my genitals?!” he questions while groping himself under his denim cowboy pants.

The video imparts knowledge about “becoming a grown-up” and “dealing with all the responsibilities of adulthood,” Paulie explains.

“Sex is my favorite part of being an adult,” an elderly vagina says.

Paulie explains that being an adult involves dealing with hormones.

“Hormones cause your body to act in unusual ways,” Paulie says. “Nightime emissions occur when boys are asleep. You might have a dream about some special lady where you touch her in a special place that smells like the sea.

“This dream causes your body to release stored-up semen,” the cartoon penis continues as he erupts.

Paulie explained that in some places in the world erections are bad, and the video shows a Middle Eastern man chopping off his son’s erect penis.

“But in civilized countries, like our own, we know that the body is simply saying, ‘Hey, here I am, pick me, I’m ready for reproduction,” a talking penis says as it peeps out from a boy’s zipper as a horrified young girl scratches her face.

The video closes with the cast of cartoons participating in an orgy.

“Well, that’s what’s happening to your genitals,” Paulie says.
