MARIETTA, Ga. – Georgia mother Joyce Sweetheart Cole belies her middle name.

During Cole’s second visit to Norton Park Elementary in the last month to discuss her 11-year-old son’s behavior problems, she apparently decided to teach him a lesson he would never forget.

Around 10:15 a.m. Halloween morning, Cole alleged forced her son to strip nude at the front entrance of the school and walk with her to her car in the parking lot in his birthday suit, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Police report Cole previously told her son she was “going to embarrass him in front of people” if he “got in trouble at school again,” according to Cole’s arrest warrant.

Witnesses state Cole slapped the boy in the head with an open had as he walked in shame to her car and several of them tried to intervene but were unsuccessful, according to the warrant.

“Police said the child was accused of kicking another student at the school before his mother arrived on campus, marking the second time she came to the school to address a behavioral issue in a month,” Fox 5 reports.

Cobb County police arrested Cole on charges of first-degree child cruelty, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and simple battery for allegedly slapping the boy’s head, according to the AJC.

“A spokesperson for the Cobb County Police Department said Cole’s three children, including the victim, are now in state custody as a result of the incident,” Fox 5 reports.

Cole was released from Cobb County Jail after posting a $5,720 bond the same day.

Fox 5 contacted Cole and her husband by phone, but they declined to comment on the incident and referred questions to an attorney.

Folks who commented about the ordeal on Facebook condemned Cole for the stunt and applauded police for her arrest.
