MADISON, Wis. – A University of Wisconsin anti-Trump student faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly stripping buck naked at the state Capitol to protest the new president.

Twenty-two year old Russell C. Doupe was caught on video taking off his clothes in the first floor rotunda around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 4, when he ran through the balustrade while “exposing his genitals,” capitol police told the Wisconsin State Journal.

According to the site:

A criminal complaint said that in the video a little girl could be heard “saying something to the effect of ‘What’s that?’ in a questioning tone of voice.”

The man who took the video told police he was afraid Doupe was going to fall over the railing to the ground floor. He also said he was disturbed by Doupe’s behavior.

Doupe was accompanied during the stunt by Thomas Siwula, who told police the two came to the Capitol to speak out against “the financial decisions of President Trump.”

Police contend both men reeked of booze, though Doupe was putting his clothes back on when officers arrived and apologized for exposing himself.

WSAU reports Doupe was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, and now faces a fine of up to $10,000 or nine months in jail.

Doupe’s Facebook page lists him as a current student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduate of Appleton North High School.

Several folks who commented about his situation on Facebook seemed to think the stunt was funny.

“Drunk, naked college student found in state capitol arrested for impersonating a legislator,” William Dashiell Hammett posted.

“I guess this is why Madison is referred to as ‘Mad City,’” Bill Hauda added. “Might be the alcohol or just another symptom of TDS, ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’ Makes one wonder when politics will return to normal.”
