ATLANTA – An Atlanta area mother faces criminal charges after police allege she jumped in on a fight between her daughter and another student at Redan High School.
A video of the fight posted to social media shows a 16-year-old female student in a fight with two other girls last week, as well as the mother of one of the attackers pulling the girl’s hair as she was pummeled by her classmates.

The victim told WSB-TV the mother “hit me in the back of my head with a cell phone, pulling my hair.”
“Why would you get in a kid’s business?” questioned the girl, who did not want to be identified. “That was really uncalled for, what she did.”
The student said the students in the video had bullied her all year, and apparently decided to jump her in the hallway at the end of school Thursday.
“I tried to defend myself,” she said, “but I can’t really handle three people.”
Fox 5 identified the victim as Deja Smith.
“They ran up on me, pulled my hair, upper cut me and I tried to defend myself but I couldn’t handle all three,” she told Fox 5.

District officials acknowledged the incident and issued a statement that “the district will never tolerate altercations of any type on its campuses,” but it did little to comfort Smith’s parents.
“She checks in and then gets to walk around the school? And no security? Where was security when my daughter was getting attacked?” Darlene Smith, the girl’s mother, questioned.
“These schools need to be held accountable, just as well as the mother,” she told WSB-TV.
“Kids should be able to go to school and feel safe and not be attacked by students or parents,” she told Fox 5.
The victim told WSB-TV she suffered a concussion and cuts to her head during the scuffle. None of the students involved in the incident have been suspended.
The mother involved in the brawl, meanwhile, is facing a battery charge, according to the site.
Neither WSB-TV nor Fox 5 identified the mother.
District officials said an investigation is ongoing.
The incident is at least the second brawl in the district involving adults in recent weeks.
A teacher and paraprofessional at Stone Mountain Middle School were removed from school and charged with disorderly conduct after a fight on Friday that was recorded by students, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
DeKalb County School District officials told the AJC Brittany Randolph-Johnson and Milan Etheridge, both 27, will be terminated over the fight, which took place in a science classroom.
