POST FALLS, Idaho – An Idaho middle schooler was suspended and could face criminal charges after he allegedly passed out brownies at school that he made with laxatives.

Officials at River City Middle School called the Post Falls Police after several students reported feeling ill after eating a brownies from a classmate at lunch. When police arrived, the unidentified student who brought the brownies had already been picked up by his mother, but several other students contend the student sold them the brownies alleged they were made with marijuana, KREM reports.

One female student told police she did not finish the brownie when she was told it contained marijuana, while another female student said she spit it out because “it tasted funny.”

According to KREM:

School officials spoke with the student who brought the brownies to find out where they were and turned them over to police when they arrived. Before police left, a probation officer contacted the school to state they spoke with the student who brought the brownies. He reportedly told them they were not marijuana brownies, but rather brownies with some sort of laxative in them.

Back at the station, police tested the brownie and confirmed they did not have marijuana in them, but did have a laxative.

The student’s mother allegedly told police her son baked the treats with a neighbor kid, and brought them to school to pass out to friends and a teacher.

The student allegedly said some of the brownies were meant as a joke because he put laxatives in them, and he admitted to handing them out but denied attempting to pass them off as marijuana edibles.

“The boy was suspended from school for five days and cited for passing a simulated controlled substance,” according to My Fox Spokane.

Several folks who commented about the prank online believe police could be taking the incident a little bit too seriously.

“Possession of a controlled substance? For laxative brownies? Come on!” Katherine Holyoak posted to Facebook.

“Laxatives are a controlled substance?” Angela Wolfe added. “LAMO, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard!”

“Can’t even play a prank these days,” Katelin Quezada wrote.

“Crappy situation,” Rick Turner added.

“Sounds like a real sh*tty situation for everyone,” Schott Kelley posted.
