ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – We certainly hope Angela Nolen was friendlier to her kindergarten students than she was to her ex-husband.

Of course at this point it doesn’t really matter, because she’s probably headed to prison for a very long time, and won’t have much exposure to children anymore.

Nolen, 47, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of soliciting to commit murder after she paid an undercover state police agent $4,000 in advance to kill her ex-husband, Paul Strickler, according to HamptonRoads.com. She planned to pay the balance – another $4,000 – after the deed was done, the news report said.

Nolen has been in custody without bond for months and has been suspended from her job as a kindergarten teacher at Sontag Elementary school. Her sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 9.

Cathy Bennett, a nurse at the same school, has been charged with conspiracy for her alleged attempts to help Nolen carry out her plan. Her trial is set for July, and she’s also been suspended from her job.
