PHILADELPHIA – Someone should take away Anthea Butler’s Tweeting privileges before she makes a complete fool of herself and the Ivy League university that employs her.

GOP racistUnfortunately, it may already be too late.

Butler, an associate professor of religion at the University of Pennsylvania ,went on a Twitter rampage last night over the federal government shutdown, issuing a series of nonsensical rants about President Obama’s race, Republicans supposedly regulating vaginas, and other left-wing lunacy that will undoubtedly cause many folks to question her sanity.

This is the second time Butler has gained media attention for her online musings, which is obviously two times too many. She previously gained attention by claiming on Twitter that the verdict of the Trayvon Martin trial was proof God is a “white racist,” according to CampusReform.org.

“The last government shutdown took place under the ‘fake black president Clinton’ but now they have a ‘real black president to mess with,’ tweeted Butler,” Campus Reform reports.

Butler’s twitter rant started around 9:22 p.m. eastern time and continued until early this morning with the message “I’m going to bed. Sad thing is, when I wake up, these crazy republicans will still be frothing at the mouth while folks sign up 4Obamacare.”

Here are some other highlights from Butler’s tirade, according to Campus Reform:

“Perhaps if the republicans would quit trying to regulate vaginas they could practice governance.”

“you’d have to be blind to think race does not play into this stupidity.”

At one point, another Twitter user questioned how a government shutdown could happen.

Butler’s response: “dumbasses.”

Later the nutty professor accused U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner of being drunk, and said he should “go home.”

She tweeted “The rest of the world is laughing at the amount of jackassery in our congress. American exceptionalism indeed.”

Butler may be correct about the rest of the world laughing at America at the moment, but it’s not Congress that’s the joke.

Con Coughlin, a renowned global security expert and columnist for The Telegraph, wrote yesterday that President Barack Obama bears much of the blame for the government shutdown, and the current deterioration of America’s status as a world superpower.

“Thanks to President Barack Obama’s obduracy over his flagship heathcare policy, Democrats and Republicans have failed to reach agreement in Congress on the federal budget, forcing the U.S. government to close down for the first time in 17 years, with around 700,000 federal workers being place on indefinite leave,” Coughlin wrote.

“Republicans rightly argue that by pressing ahead with Obamacare before the implications of the program have been properly assessed risks adding to America’s debt mountain at a time when the American economy is still recovering from the biggest economic crisis in recent history,” he continued.

Coughlin’s conclusion: “ … the longer the Obama presidency continues, the more America’s status as a superpower ebbs away.”

We doubt students in Butler’s classes – if she indeed is required to teach –  will hear that point  of view any time soon.
