PERRY HALL, Md. – A Maryland teacher who allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a 15-year-old student suffered minor injuries when the student’s father attacked him with a baseball bat.
Local police, school officials and the media are not releasing the names of the individuals involved in the altercation that occurred at the home of a 15-year-old female student who attends Perry Hall High School.
Police say the student’s mother contacted authorities after she discovered more than a dozen text messages between a 42-year-old male teacher at the school and their daughter that “described an emotional relationship that seemed inappropriate for a teacher and student,” ABC reports.

The Baltimore County Police Department reviewed the messages and found no criminal activity, although they referred the case to the Crimes Against Children Unit for further investigation, according to the news site.
The teacher apparently wanted to confront the parents, and went to the student’s home Thursday to talk things out. The girl’s father, however, wasn’t interested in talking.
“The girl’s father told the teacher to leave, but the teacher refused,” a police report said. “The girl’s father then struck the teacher with a baseball bat.”
Police said the teacher could file assault charges against the father, and the father could file trespassing charges against the teacher, but neither have done so yet.
“I have read through some of those nearly 100 comments on our Facebook page and the majority of parents who chimed in said they would have done exactly the same thing as this father did,” Megan Knight reported for Good Morning Maryland.
While it seems obvious that striking someone with a bat is probably not the best way to handle any situation, it’s hard to blame a father who is merely looking out for the best interests of his child.

In school districts across America, hundreds of students are coerced into inappropriate sexual relationships by their teachers every year, most often through text messages and social media sites that are blurring the traditional boundaries between students and teachers.
In the vast majority of cases, pedophile teachers begin the grooming process by cultivating an emotional connection with “special” students that eventually morphs into a twisted sexual relationship.
The parents of this Perry Hall High School student should be proud they caught on to the inappropriate relationship before something worse happened.
As many parents of educator sexual abuse victims know first-hand, teachers who prey on students know exactly what they’re doing and how to avoid criminal charges.
By filing a report with police these parents put the teacher on notice that they’re watching him closely, and the assault with the bat will only ensure that the message gets through, loud and clear.
