MILWAUKEE – With a joint appearance “planned” sometime before Election Day between the pair, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke walks a fine line in her praise of President Obama.
With the president at the nadir of his approval rating, she must not be shown fully-embracing the White House because it could be toxic to her electoral chances in November, but she must remain loyal to her party leader.

In a story on this morning’s “Morning Joe” on MSNBC and captured by the RNC’s Research Department, Burke is shown being asked about leadership styles. Particularly if she would emulate that of Pres. Barack Obama.
Unnamed MSNBC Reporter: Do you think the president is a good model as an executive? Is it someone you would model your own leadership style after?
Mary Burke: You know, I’d probably look to other models. There’s a lot of people that I admire. Um, whether it’s Abraham Lincoln or whether it’s George Washington. I mean, there’s different things to take from different leaders.
Talk about awkwardly distancing yourself from your own party’s leader. That “planned” campaign event in the next 34 days ought to be a hoot!
