PORTLAND, Ore. – The tolerance of the police during the Michael Brown protests is perhaps best exemplified in the protection and accommodation of Jesse Jackson during his recent visit to Portland.
Jackson appeared in the city to join protesters in criticizing the police and his speech was reported by LaughingAtLiberals.

Before the crowd, Jackson claimed Brown “was at 100 feet or more and shot 12 times.”
Jackson’s rambling, semi-coherent speech at times left the crowd silent. He even engaged the crowd by having them repeat back what he was saying.
“We will win this tug of war,” he said.
“Without guns, without violence, we made America better.”
He continued, “But now we’ve changed America. We’re a better America. We’re a new America. We’re not going back.”

After his speech, Jackson slipped into the police station – under the protection of guns – to speak to the media.
Citizen journalist were shut out, only to be left looking in the windows.
“We want to make Lady Liberty rejoice when immigrants are embraced. Make Lady Liberty smile when refugees are embraced. Make Lady Liberty smile when we make room for one another,” Jackson said.
He added that Brown and Trayvon Martin “did not die in vain.”
Jackson didn’t address the reported 244 Chicago teenagers that have been shot – including 155 homicides – since Michael Brown died in August.
