RACINE, Wis. – Racine school officials remain tight-lipped about the details of alleged sexual activities in the coat closet of a kindergarten classroom as guardians of students involved speak out.

Fox 6 reports a half-dozen students at a local elementary school were suspended recently for simulating sex in a coat closet, though the news site did not disclose the specific school.

kindergartensexRacine Unified School District officials confirmed they are investigating the incidents, but declined to discuss the case. A grandmother of a male student involved, however, was more than willing to fill in some of the details.

“I couldn’t believe some of the things that were in the report. It was shocking,” the grandmother said. “According to the report, this has been going on since 4-K. He’s now in kindergarten.”

Fox 6 did not identify the grandmother to shield the student’s identity.

The grandmother provided documents of some kind that allege a female student told her mother about the classroom closet hook-ups, and the mother reported the information to school officials two weeks ago. One student said the incidents occurred “every day,” others said they would “watch them do it,” Fox 6 reports.

The report alleges students said they would “pretend that they are putting their Legos away, and sneak to engage in the activity” in an open closet nearby. The grandmother said her 5-year-old grandson was pressured by a female student to participate in inappropriate touching and simulated sex acts, according to the news site.

“First they used words like ‘having sex’ and things like that,” the grandmother said, adding that six students in total were suspended for a month. The remaining students in the classroom spent time with a school counselor, she said.

“Where was the teacher?” the grandmother questioned. “The reason I decided to do the interview is to it doesn’t happen again. No child will be kicked out of school for something that the staff or administration – they should be on top of things like this.”

Racine Unified officials told Fox 6 they’ve launched an employee relations investigation into the teacher’s conduct.

The situation, and the district’s silence, is concerning parents.

“Wow! A counselor needs to talk to the suspended children to figure out where they learned that behavior!” Marie posted to Fox 6.

“My thoughts exactly,” Jessica added, “suspending a child that young for something they didn’t know was wrong is wrong. They need to investigate each child and their homes. This is a learned behavior.”

Commenter JW “agreed (that) suspension is ridiculous in this case.

“When did society get so stupid?” JW wrote. “And, as a parent of an RUSD kindergartner, they should be naming the school!”

“All these kids need therapy not being suspended!” Christiana Lawrence posted.
