DANSVILLE, Mich. – Police put Dansville schools on lockdown Monday after a pirate was spotting on campus carrying a sword.
Police responded to the scene around 12:45 p.m. where they met a former student dressed in the self-described pirate outfit, complete with leggings, a paramilitary style jacket, and sash wrapped around his waist, the Lansing State Journal reports.

“The 19-year-old male, of Holt, was in Dansville visiting a friend to play the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons. He had a backpack with cards and materials for the roleplaying game, said Sgt. Tim O’Neill of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office,” according to the news site.
“The two friends had a falling out and the former student left, cutting through school property around 12:45 p.m., hoping to catch a ride on a school bus back to Holt, O’Neill said.”
Police soon realized the teen was not as dangerous as a real pirate, and issued a reminder about prohibited weapons on campus.
The boy’s mother eventually picked her son up without incident, O’Neill told the Journal.
Several folks who posted to Facebook clearly thought the whole incident was hilarious.
