One student told police the two started with sexting through Snapchat after spring break and she eventually invited him to her house for sex. The student said he told the teacher he was with a friend, and she invited them both.

The Lufkin Daily News reports:

The boys said that when they arrived to the apartment, Robertson was lying on the couch vaping, according to the warrant. After speaking with the boys for a few minutes, Robertson told them to follow her to her bedroom, where she began taking off her clothes before having sex with both students at the same time, according to the warrant.

Those teens pointed investigators to others who likely bedded the teacher, and two other students confirmed they also became friends with Robertson on Snapchat before sex sessions at her apartment.

One of the students told police he’d sneak out of his house with a friend late at night and Robertson would pick them up for sex. The student and his friend both confirmed they had sex with Robertson at least twice.

Robertson allegedly admitted to the sexual rendezvous with the underage students, and said she had sex with some more than others. She also allegedly told police she didn’t “require” them to use a condom because she can’t have children.

“She said she recently became a heavy drinker and would sometimes forget the details of the sexual encounters,” the Daily News reports. “She also said she instructed the boys not to tell anyone because she would get in trouble.”

The teacher’s drinking problems were confirmed through arrest records, which show Robertson was charged with driving while intoxicated in late March in Angelina County.

Robertson, who worked in the district since at least 2000, resigned her position on Thursday, the same day district officials learned of her alleged indiscretions, Hudson superintendent Mary Ann Whiteker told the Daily News.

“We acted immediately and began our investigation,” Whiteker said. “We pursued with the correct protocol we have to follow. I accepted the resignation (Thursday) afternoon, and it has been submitted through the appropriate legal channels. Our investigation has been finalized.”

Robertson now faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, and her case is simply the latest in what seems to be a growing trend educators who have sexually abused students across the country in recent years.

The problem has been especially obvious in Texas, where state investigators are fielding a record number of complaints as lawmakers struggle to craft legislation to help curb the epidemic.
