ALLENTOWN, Pa.—A former Louis E. Dieruff High School math teacher pleaded guilty last week to “sexting” with a 16-year-old student.

Timothy Moll, 25, was charged with one count of corruption of a minor, a misdemeanor, and could face up to five years in prison, according to lehighvalleylive.com.  Additional felony charges of corruption of a minor and unlawful contact with a minor were dropped as a result of a plea deal.

An investigation first began in January after the female student was sent to the assistant principal’s office for using a cellphone during class. The student’s mother informed the assistant principal about sexually explicit text messages her daughter had received from Moll, reports the news site.

Moll admitted to sending explicit messages requesting naked photographs and asking the student to talk about different sexual positions. At least one text message promised extra credit if she “turned him on.”

Moll went as far as to give the student a thong and asked her to send him pictures of herself wearing it, according to Lehigh County Deputy District Attorney Matthew Falk.

Moll has worked as a teacher in the Allentown School District for at least two years, according to the news site. He was previously a math teacher at Trexler Middle School.  The news report indicated he is no longer employed by the district, but did not offer details.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 5.

The charges against Moll serve as further embarrassment for the district. Two weeks before Moll was charged, Dieruff High School athletic director Tim Geiger was arrested for allegedly buying cocaine during police surveillance on a suspected drug dealer.
