Athletic trainer arrested

A Houston high school athletic trainer is facing charges after being caught in a vehicle with a student last week.

Christopher Patterson, a 31-year-old athletic trainer at Willis High School, is being charged with a second-degree felony charge of improper relationship between educator and student, KHOU reports.

Police reportedly uncovered the relationship when they were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle at a local dog park. When they arrived, they found Patterson in the car with a 17-year-old student.

The female student later admitted to having sex with the trainer, reports KHOU.

Police are concerned that there might be other victims and are urging them to come forward if that is the case.

Former teacher gets off easy

Matthew Bowling, a former Louisville teacher, was sentenced to three years of probation last week after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree rape of a former student at Bethlehem High School, reports the Courier-Journal.

According to court records, Bowling engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 18 sometime between May 12 and July 9 and sometime between July 10 and Augus0t 2.

The former teacher had been employed at the school since 2008. He resigned in July after the school became aware of reports he was involved with a student, the Courier-Journal reports.

Bowling will not have to serve any jail time unless he violates the terms of his probation. He was required to surrender his teaching license.
