SILVER SPRING, Md. – A former Maryland music teacher was indicted last month on 39 counts tied to the alleged abuse of 15 students.
Lawrence W. Joynes, a 27-year Montgomery County teaching veteran, is facing charges for sexually abusing 15 kindergarten through second grade girls, reports Gazette.net.
Joynes, 55, was originally discovered by police in 2013 through a Yahoo account linked to porn distribution. According to court documents, when police searched his computer, they found 4,400 sexually suggestive photographs, many of which were of girls at his school.
Police also recovered sexually suggestive video clips of girls sucking on peppermint sticks and a man’s finger, inside what appeared to be his music classroom. Some of these videos were set to music or had sexually suggestive captions. In other clips, the girls were inappropriately touched or made to touch themselves, The Gazette reports.
Joynes reportedly admitted to taping the videos and said the name of one girl was tattooed on his right shoulder.
He is facing 14 counts of various sexual crimes against minors.
Joynes has already pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and was sentenced to time served. He has also been ordered to register as a sex offender.
Teacher caught having sex with student in truck
A Greenwood, Indiana high school physical education teacher has admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student after the two were discovered naked in his truck by local authorities.
Timothy Guilfoy, who has since resigned from his position at Greenwood Community High School, confessed in court to having sex with the student on more than one occasion, reports the IndyStar.
Guilfoy, 36, admitted that he and the 17-year-old student began texting and sending sexually explicit photos about two months ago. The two also admitted to meeting four times in the past and having sex two of these times.
The former teacher is facing seven counts of child seduction, six of which are Class C felony charges. Each Class C felony charge is punishable by up to eight years in prison, reports the IndyStar.
The teen girl told police that the two agreed to meet at an apartment complex after a Friday night school basketball game. The student met Guilfoy there and got into his truck at the back of the parking lot. Guilfoy put up a sun visor and the two moved to the back seat and had sex, until they were discovered by the local police investigating the “suspicious vehicle.”
When asked why he continued to have sex with the girl when he knew it was illegal, Guilfoy answered, “I don’t know, attention, I guess pathetic,” according to the IndyStar.
Guilfoy is expected to be back in court next month.

Johnson, a married father of three and grandfather of four, allegedly has been involved in a sexual relationship with the student for quite some time.
The student testified that one encounter happened in a hotel while Johnson was at a teacher’s conference and two others occurred in the back of Johnson’s Toyota Prius.
