NEW YORK – EAG founder Kyle Olson appeared on The Kelly File Monday night to discuss a lawsuit filed by New York students, claiming teacher tenure is harming their opportunity to receive a quality education. Their suit comes on the heels of a similar case in California where a judge threw out tenure and other job protections.

Olson appeared with Florida attorney Andell Brown.

“The reality is it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to move teachers out of the classroom and so unfortunately, a lot of cash-strapped districts will actually pay a teacher to go away and give them a letter of recommendation where they will go to another district and do the same sort of thing than actually spending the money on legal fees to get rid of that person,” Olson said.

“It’s a broken system. It’s taking parents and students to try to fix it through the courts where politicians are not doing their job.”
