LONDON – The solution to increasing diversity, according to Goldsmiths University student union Welfare and Diversity Officer Bahar Mustafa, is to “kill all white men.”

Mustafa took to the office’s Twitter account to launch the tirade that some are calling discrimination.

It all started when she posted a meeting to promote diversity but told white people and men “not to come.” A purpose of the meeting was to discuss “diversifying the curriculum.”

She was only inviting “self-defining BLACK and ETHNIC MINORITY women and non-binary people with gender identities that include ‘woman,'” according to the Herald.

Students have launched a petition seeking the ouster of Mustafa.

It reads in part:

“The current welfare and diversity officer has used hate speech based on race and gender.

“For example, the consistent use of hashtags such as #killallwhitemen and #misandry, and publicly calling someone ‘white trash’ under the official GSU Welfare and Diversity Officer Twitter account.”

It adds Mustafa has “encouraged or expressed hatred based on an individual’s race, gender, or social position.”

The office’s Twitter account has since been shut down.

Mustafa has defended herself, claiming “ethnic minority women could not be racist as they do not stand to benefit from inequality,” the Evening Standard reports.

While she says using the term “white trash” was “not professional,” she’s not backing down from her statements.

She took to her personal Twitter account her statements to “kill all white men” were simply “in-jokes and ways that many people in the queer feminist community express ourselves.”

She added, “It’s a way of reclaiming the power from the trauma many of us experience as queers, women, people of color, who are on the receiving end of racism, misogyny and homophobia daily.”

Another petition calling for Mustafa to be fired has 2,700 signatures. One supporting her has 1,300 signatures.

If three percent of student union members sign a petition against Mustafa, a no-confidence vote will be held. If two-thirds of those students vote against her, she’ll be removed.

The university doesn’t appear to be taking any action against her.

Mustafa recently graduated from Goldsmiths with a degree in “gender and media studies.”
