ESTHERO, Fla. – A Florida high school teacher was highly intoxicated on her way to school Tuesday when she was arrested for her second drunken driving charge in less than year.

School officials plan to put Estero High School reading teacher Nancy Vaughn, 56, on administrative reassignment when she gets out of jail, the News-Press.com reports.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies received several calls about an erratic driver and pulled over Vaughn’s red Nissan Altima on Three Oaks Parkway less than a mile from the high school.

“A deputy … observed her driving 20 in a 55 miles per hour zone and crossing the center stripe multiple times,” the news site reports.

The teacher allegedly failed field sobriety tests and eventually registered a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit to drive.

“The school allows you to keep working with kids with a DUI?” questioned one parent, according to CBS.

It seems so. Vaughn was reportedly convicted of driving under the influence in 2013 and was driving on a suspended license during the most recent incident, CBS reports.

That begs an obvious question – how many times has she managed to make it to school while driving drunk, and get through the day without authorities noticing, or doing something about it?
